Threaded spindles

Trapezoidal thread spindle

Trapezoidal thread spindles operate on the principle of sliding friction. They are an inexpensive alternative to ball screws and, in certain designs, offer self-locking.

Thread profile: Trapezoidal thread drives use a trapezoidal thread profile with a steep pitch, while ball screw drives use a different shape.

Areas of application: Trapezoidal thread drives are ideally suited for applications with high load capacities and long-term stability, such as in machine tools, presses or elevators. In contrast, ball screw drives are more versatile.

Robustness: Compared to ball screw drives, trapezoidal thread drives are more robust and resistant to extreme conditions.

Costs: Trapezoidal thread drives are generally more cost-effective to purchase and maintain compared to ball screw drives.
